The Highland Park Players will present the popular Andrew Lloyd Weber musical "Cats" starting Friday, Oct. 4 and running through Oct. 20.
The performances of the Tony-winning musical will be held on three consecutive weekends at the Northbrook Theater, 3323 Wolters Ave., Northbrook.
Based on T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats," Andrew Lloyd Webber's record-breaking adaptation includes one of his most memorable musical scores.
The show won six Tony awards, including Best Musical, and was one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history.
The Highland Park Players is a nonprofit organization with the goal of providing an accessible and hands-on theater experience for the community. The local production is directed and choreographed by Jen Cupani with musical direction by Ken Preuss.
Local actors play the Cats, including Dave Lemrise (Munkustrap) of Buffalo Grove, Denise Tamburrino (Grisabella) of Deerfield, Hannah Rose (Jellylorum) and Anne Badamo-Connors (Electra), both of Highland Park and Mike Weaver (Old Deutoronomy) of Glencoe. Other Cats are played by Alexis Armstrong (Bombalurina) of Glencoe, Annie Jo Fischer (Victoria) of Wheeling, Tony Mansfield (Silabub) of Evanston and Missy Greenberg (Jennyanydots) of Northbrook.
The shows will be at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings Oct. 4-5, 11-12, 18-19 and at 2 p.m. Sunday Oct. 6, 13 and 20.
Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 from Oct. 4-20. Tickets can be purchased online at www.highlandparkplayers.com, or at the West Ridge Center, 636 Ridge Road in Highland Park.
